David M. Jones
Geology Consultant
Mr. David M. Jones is a graduate of Dartmouth College (B.S. 1978) and University of Arizona (M.S. 1987) with over 30 years experience in mineral exploration and project management and development. As Project Manager and Chief Geologist of Teck's Nukay property from 1994-1999, Mr. Jones is credited with the discovery and geologic modeling of the 'blind' Los Filos gold deposit, currently on track to become Mexico's largest gold producer (Goldcorp Inc.) in 2010. Mr. Jones has worked extensively within the Guerrero Gold Belt for clients including Wheaton River, Penoles, Grupo Mexico, MIM, and a number of Canadian juniors. He has published numerous technical articles and is considered to be the foremost expert on Guerrero Gold Belt type deposits. As well he is owner and founder of Minera Zalamera, a Mexican exploration company that has aggressively acquired gold properties throughout southern Mexico.
Jamila Abassi
Community Relations Consultant
Ms. Abassi, B.A., M.A., is a cultural anthropologist with experience working as an integral member of mineral exploration teams in rural and remote regions of North and Central America, Asia, Europe, and North Africa. Ms. Abassi has demonstrated success building and advising community relations teams; developing culturally appropriate stakeholder engagement programs, including life of mine plans; designing evidence-based and outcome-oriented sustainable projects; facilitating land access agreements; and, producing CSR and Procurement policies. Ms. Abassi has created social management plans that meet host-country and international benchmarks such as the Equator Principles, ICMM Ten Principles, and the UN Global Compact.
